In the summer of 2018, Josh Fisher and Bennet were asked to help design a mural framework and plan for a community paint day in partnership with a Leadership Kitsap group and the City of Poulsbo, Washington. The Leadership Kitsap Group sought ways to help the ongoing efforts of the Poulsbo Skatepark Committee, which is working with the city to create a new year round community skatepark. An idea was born to paint a mural, with park themes, on an existing Public Works Maintenance Shed that is adjacent the city library and on one of the main roads leading to downtown Poulsbo, and the hopeful site of the future park.

The idea was presented to Public Works and the Mayor and approval was granted. In an effort of outreach, the group sought out community input, through a survey seeking ideas and expectations for the future park and the feedback was used as inspiration for the mural theme. The survey provided responses from almost 500 people in just two weeks!

Fisher and Bennett then created a plan for a mural that could be paint- ed by the community and the Leadership Kitsap group networked with local businesses and organizations to gather materials and supplies. Thanks to an overwhelmingly generous and supportive community of residents, businesses, and organizations 100% of the paint and supplies were provided for the mural and paint day event.

On the paint day, it drew a crowd of almost 200 people, who came to show support, paint, meet friends and family, and share a picnic meal at Centennial Park, all in support of the future skatepark.
